Lakeview, Oregon

A local question.
A useful project.

ODL connects civic, school, and conservation conversations in Lakeview to shape practical learning around local priorities.

The purpose

Build skills
where life
happens.

Connect classroom learning with water, habitat, measurement, and the systems around us.

The Director reports support from Lakeview’s city council president. The local delivery pathway brings school and community participation into a written pilot scope with authorized contacts, a schedule, and clear responsibilities.

ODL’s work with the Lake County Watershed Council and conservation-learning contacts provides a foundation for local coordination.

The pilot

Four sessions.
Something
to show.

The planning baseline is 6–8 middle-school learners. The host sets the final group, setting, and delivery arrangements.

01 / Prepare

Choose a local land or water question. Introduce habitat, observation, measurement, and the design challenge.

02 / Observe

Use supervised field observation or host-approved materials to identify features, compare evidence, and record questions.

03 / Build

Make and test a tabletop watershed or habitat model. Practice measurement, responsible tool use, and improvement.

04 / Share

Present the model and design decisions. Produce a learning summary and gather educator and participant feedback.

Local coordination

Clear roles.
Useful contributions.
