The work
Learning you
can put to use.
Design and engineering meet land and water stewardship, skilled work, creative technology, and questions that matter locally.
01 / Oregon pilot
Land and water.
Hands and minds.
A four-session land and water stewardship pilot for 6–8 middle-school learners, developed with an authorized local school or community host.
Read the Lakeview plan01 / Prepare
Choose a local land or water question. Introduce habitat, observation, measurement, and the design challenge.
02 / Observe
Use supervised field observation or host-approved materials to identify features, compare evidence, and record questions.
03 / Build
Make and test a tabletop watershed or habitat model. Practice measurement, responsible tool use, and improvement.
04 / Share
Present the model and design decisions. Produce a learning summary and gather educator and participant feedback.
Planning sequence: host support and local authorization; agreed scope, schedule, access, and supervision; materials and funding; pilot delivery; educator review. Oregon STEP application work supports this pathway.
02 / Washington
Healthy lands.
Living waters.
Connect trout and salmon conservation with habitat observation, sample data, tabletop models, and useful engineering.
Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife connections inform program development. Local hosts shape the learners, setting, resources, schedule, and responsibilities through a Washington delivery pathway.

Try it.
Test it.
Make it better.
Design + skilled work
Measurement, sketching, fabrication, responsible tool use, mechanics, and troubleshooting.
Digital + creative learning
Accessible learning resources, AI-assisted work, multimedia production, digital documentation, and clear presentations.
Learning systems
Reliable educator resources, clear permissions, and reusable materials connect local projects with the wider ODL alliance.
04 / Mobile learning
Bring the tools.
Build the skills.
A mobile learning platform carries tools, materials, and practical expertise to community host sites.
Mechanical systems, maintenance, field repair, and equipment care form part of the educational approach. ODL coordinates technical expertise, suitable equipment, and delivery resources around each approved activity.
